This term we have been studying the Victorians through our topic, Children of the Revolution! We began by drawing different Victorian artefacts that tell us about how people lived in the past. We researched important dates and events and recorded them on a class timeline. We asked questions and researched the lives of different Victorian people and investigated what changes they made using the internet and reference books. This led to writing biographies about Queen Victoria, Joseph Lister, Lord Shaftesbury, Charles Dickens, Florence Nightingale and Lewis Carroll.
We investigated what it was like to live in Taff's Well village between 1841 and 1881 and really enjoyed finding out about the causes and consequences of any changes. We showed what we had found out on group mind maps. We researched and drew our family trees and used our maths skills to calculate the mode, range and median of the data. We used everything we had learned to write and present a class assembly which involved us carrying out a drama, a famous Victorian poem and even a rap about notorious Victorians!
